Episode 34: Living a Creative Life

This week we're discussing a very universal topic among crafters and scrapbookers, the ins and outs of "Living a Creative Life." We'll talk about how being creative defines us, if we could live without creativity in our lives, if we are naturally inclined to be creative and more! This is one of our favorite shows to date, we hope you like it!

Here are three ways to listen...
1) ScrapGals on Podomatic
2) ScrapGals on iTunes
3) Right here on this player...

Stephanie Ackerman - Here is the embroidery we mentioned...she stamped this and then stitched! Love!

We love the word "maker" as we discussed in the show. Saw this awesome graphic on Pinterest tonight and thought it went along great with this show!

Thanks for listening!
Tiffany and Tracie

  1. Oh my goodness. You had me in stitched Tiffany with your tambourine story!!

:) Love that you two have such creative lives. I feel the same as Tracie regarding talking with Mums with kids in school (I'm a homeschooler also). But so happy that we have online friends that we can all talk with about creative stuff!

    1. What would we do without our online crafty friends? I love them all!

  2. yes, do another show about this creative topic. in the past i didn't realize it's who i always was, but now i can see those patterns. my husband is very supportive. he's also very creative. one of the skills i admire in him is how he thinks about problem solving & how he builds things that are functional in ways i'd never thought of or considered. .i agree that everyone is creative or has the potential. it could be in whatever they are passionate about. i've heard when something feels like it's a part of you that you might not realize that others don't share or have that same skill, or value. maybe they make up recipes, or devise planning strategies, or train animals, or know the best place to go on a hike. they could be a scientist or a mathematician. the creative ones are the ones that try. the creative ones discover. i have opened up my definition of what being creative or living a creative life is.

  3. Teddi! I love that comment! I'm going to read it on the show!

  4. Great episode!! I really enjoy it. I define myself as a creative person. When I started my blog, I wanted to be able to share not only my scrapbooking and kids' crafts, but also my adventures developing recipes, hosting theme parties, making up wacky games, and everything else that is part of my creative life. I went back and forth on what to call my blog when it hit me that "Cindy deRosier: My Creative Life" covers it all. Now, 4+ years later, almost everything I do ends up on my blog because so much of my life is about being creative.

I think there a lot more creative people out there than we realize at first. My husband is a software engineer- before I met him, I thought coding was probably one of the least creative things a person could do. But now I understand that writing code is something like writing a novel. There is a ton of creativity.

I'm listening to these as often as I can. Someday I aspire to be caught up, though I'm 11 months behind right now!!
